Institutional Pathway
A school-led approach to social-emotional learning.
The Socio-Conscious Corner helps K–12 schools design, implement, document, and evaluate school-led social-emotional learning experiences that reflect their students, educators, and school priorities.
Designed Around Your School
SCC does not hand educators a fixed set of lessons. Educators keep autonomy over project themes and activities, designing experiences that reflect their students, their school, and their priorities.
What stays consistent is the developmental structure. Every project is planned, implemented, documented, and examined within the same five elements, so students encounter a coherent set of experiences even as the activities themselves differ from classroom to classroom.
Educator judgment shapes the experience. The framework gives that judgment a shared structure.
The Framework
Identity, Awareness, Agency, Contribution, and Reflection are the elements of the Socio-Conscious Framework. All five are intentionally practiced in every SCC project meeting rather than taught once and set aside.
Understanding and expressing who I am.
Opportunities to explore and express perspectives, experiences, roles, and sense of self.
Noticing myself, others, and what is happening around me.
Opportunities to notice one's own experiences, consider others' perspectives, and read the circumstances around them.
Making choices and taking action.
Opportunities to make meaningful decisions, express identity, and influence what happens.
Participating in something beyond myself.
Opportunities to participate, collaborate, help, create, and work toward shared purpose.
Learning from experience.
Opportunities to examine what happened, consider what I did, what I learned, and what I might do next.
From Design to Implementation
The SCC Operating System organizes the implementation work into six modules: LEARN, TRANSLATE, PRACTICE, IMPLEMENT, DOCUMENT, and TRACK.
Understand it.
Learn what Identity, Awareness, Agency, Contribution, and Reflection mean and what they can look like in educational experiences.
Connect it.
Connect what you notice in everyday student experiences to the Socio-Conscious Framework.
Design it.
Practice creating meaningful opportunities for students to experience and use the five areas.
Use it.
Bring those opportunities into real educational experiences and observe what occurs.
Capture it.
Record what students experienced and what the opportunity made possible, while it is still fresh.
Learn from it.
Examine what becomes visible across experiences to inform what you create or examine next.
Why a School-Led Approach
Teachers choose the project themes and activities that fit their students, grade level, and school context.
Every project is organized by the same five elements, so student experience stays coherent across classrooms.
Students make choices, contribute to shared work, and reflect on what their participation made possible.
Planning, documentation, and reflection structures help educators sustain the work across a school year.
Documented experiences become the basis for deciding what the next educational experience should invite.
